HOUSING STOCK AND RENOVATION

Statistics are compiled on house building by completed construction and buildings taken into use. Before a dwelling is completed and can be used, a municipal permit must be issued.

Renovation and Modernization

Approximately two thirds of the rented housing of Naalakkersuisut are more than 15 years old and have not been properly maintained.

 

In 1990, Inatsisartut (The Parliament of Greenland) endorsed a rehabilitation plan which will restore the dilapidated dwellings over a span of years.
